A 58 year old agent moving into a new market posted this on r/RealEstateTechnology last week:
“Then I’m told it takes 10 hours to edit and you really should not edit your own videos. Now it’s a very expensive coach program where they edit them all for you. I’m torn. UGH.”
If you have ever tried to put a listing on video, you have felt that exact UGH. You buy the camera, you shoot the walkthrough, and then the ground opens up. Someone tells you it is ten hours of editing, that you are not the right person to do it, and conveniently, the only remedy costs a monthly subscription.
Here is the part nobody shows you: the ten hours is real, but it is not editing.
Where the ten hours actually goes
I accounted for one listing walkthrough video the way it really happens for an agent who is also running a business. This is not a studio shoot. It is an agent, a phone on a gimbal, and a laptop at the kitchen table that night.

Call it ten hours. Now read the right column again. The camera work, the shot list, and the cut together are about three of those hours. The other seven are words, formatting, and follow-up. In other words, the same work you already do for every listing, just wearing a video costume.
If this feels familiar, it is because it is the same story as one property becoming five separate jobs. Crop the photos, rewrite the copy for each platform, check the safe zones, export to the MLS, track what performed. Add a camera and you do not get a sixth job. You get all five again, this time with a soundtrack.
The upsell hides in the wrong hour
Watch how the advice is shaped. The moment editing gets defined as the ten hour problem, the answer is obvious: buy editing. Priced by the month, forever, plus a course to get in.
But a video editor cannot touch hours one through three, or the description rewrites, or the follow-up. The editor fixes the cut and the other seven hours stay exactly where they were, standing in your kitchen at 10pm. You have paid a subscription to remove the smallest line in the table.
Which hours an AI agent actually deletes
